On 11th October 2025, the RURIethnic store in Aundh, Pune transformed into something more than a saree space. It became a room full of conversations, curiosity, confidence, and women asking questions they had carried with them for years. What was planned as a two-hour event turned into a four-hour-long exchange, simply because no one wanted it to end.
When I started thinking about offline events for the RURIsitara community, I kept asking myself one simple question: what genuinely matters to women? Grooming, self-presentation, and feeling confident in one’s own skin came up instantly. Make-up is something most women care deeply about, yet so many of us are unsure if we are doing it right.
Today, we are surrounded by content. Tutorials, reels, expert videos, all offering advice. Yet the most common struggle remains: What works for me? That was the gap we wanted to address with The Glam Hour.

The idea was never to teach trends or push products. It was about creating a space where women could ask real questions, openly and without hesitation. A space where makeup was not about perfection, but about understanding your own face, your own features, and your own comfort.
We collaborated with MKS Milagro Salon, and I cannot think of a better person to lead this conversation than Minsi Kaur, the owner and a hair and makeup expert I have known for over a decade. Minsi’s dedication to her craft has always inspired me. She is deeply knowledgeable, incredibly genuine, and soft in her approach — qualities that matter immensely when working with women.
Watching her work that afternoon felt like watching a magician. Her wand just happened to be a makeup brush.
About 18 women, aged between 25 and 55, joined us, a beautiful mix of working professionals, homemakers, and entrepreneurs. What unfolded was far more than a workshop. Women came prepared, carrying their personal makeup kits, opening their vanity bags, and asking questions specific to their products, their routi
Minsi walked everyone through everyday makeup, party looks, and full glam, breaking each step down with clarity and patience. She shared professional techniques, explained why certain products work better than others, and most importantly, encouraged women to find what feels right for them.
There was no rush. No hierarchy. Just open dialogue.
The enthusiasm in the room was infectious. Questions flowed freely — about skin prep, base makeup, eye shapes, brushes, and routines that fit into busy lives. I remember thinking midway through, we did this right. The fact that the session extended to four hours without anyone checking the time said everything.
What stayed with me was the appreciation. The genuine gratitude for creating a space where women felt heard and comfortable enough to ask “basic” questions without judgement. The joy of watching women realise that makeup doesn’t need to be complicated or intimidating.
This is exactly what the RURIsitara community is about — creating safe, thoughtful experiences where women can learn, share, and grow together.

At RURIethnic, sarees are at the heart of what we do. But community is the soul. Through events like The Glam Hour, we want to build spaces that go beyond shopping — spaces that support confidence, curiosity, and connection.
The Glam Hour was not about glamour alone. It was about empowerment, one conversation at a time.
As we continue to host more such off-beat, meaningful community events in Pune, my hope is that RURIsitaras continue to see RURIethnic as a place they belong to — not just a store they visit.
Because when women come together, share knowledge, and uplift each other, something beautiful always follows.
